February Reading Wrap-Up!

February Wrap-Up!

Y'all, I read 13 books in the month of February! 13! I haven't done that since June 2018. Given, six of them were for my Children and Young Adult Lit class, but still! I am super proud of this number! Since I already posted my Contemporary-A-Thon wrap-up I won't go in detail about those six books again here. Instead, this post is just going to talk about the one non-school related book a read before the Contemporary-A-Thon started, give my ratings for the books I read this month, and link to my full reviews that I had to do for my class for the 6 Children's/Middle Grade books I read this month. If you are interested in seeing book reviews for Children's and Young Adult books that I have to do for classes, you can check out my review blog: theredheadedravenclaw.blogspot.com ~Em

I set out to read at least a few books about black characters or written by black authors (or preferably both) during February for Black History Month. I listened to this book on audio and it was so darn good. It is about a young man who is on track to go to an Ivy League school after he graduates high school, but keeps getting into situations where he is racially profiled. The commentary on racism, stereotyping, and police brutality were so powerful. I loved Nic Stone's writing style and this story.
