Tunes That Have Tickled My Ears

The Tunes I've Been Feeling Lately

It's been a while since the last time I shared my latest listens with you guys! Honestly I pretty much have one playlist that I listen to all the time, however there are songs in it that I haven't heard before because I just add whole albums of artists I like and so I'm constantly discovering new songs. Some of these songs aren't new to me but they are just what I have been loving these last few weeks! ~Em

10. "9000 Years" by Sleeper's Reign

"Make room as I rally the horses."

9. "Love Lust" by King Charles

"If your beauty is a fortress then my love will be the moat."

8. "Like Me Like That" by Bear Hands

"You see a mess, but that's progress."

The End Is Near

The Busiest Time of Year

The busiest time of the year is upon us. It has been so hectic in my world the last couple of weeks and as it approaches finals week it will likely only get busier. I know I said that I hate doing update posts but a TON of stuff has happened since my last post that I wanted to fill you guys in on.

I made my LAST FALL SEMESTER schedule a couple weeks ago! Can you believe it? Because I hardly can. This makes it so real that I actually get to graduate a year early and I'm actually super stoked about my schedule. I will technically only be in 12 hours of class each week, not including marching band and Wind Ensemble, The other 5 hours of my time are pretty unique because for two of them I get to be a Teacher's Aide for my mentor's Crime and Deviance class and the other three will be credit that I am getting for my research trip that I'm going on this summer. My actual classes that I'm taking are American National Government, Scientific Connections, Social Psychology, and Cognition. I have already finished my major courses except for Capstone and Senior Seminar so basically I'm taking my last two core courses and finishing up my minor!

Last week/weekend was our school's production of Fiddler on the Roof and boy was that an experience. I had never played in the pit for a musical before and it is a whole different ball game. The score had some pretty tough spots in it, musically speaking, and the whole experience was incredibly draining. It was really fun to be creating the music for the actors and actresses on stage and I would definitely do it again! HOWEVER, playing that same music over and over for those performances and those performances being so important seriously messed with my music-interpreting brain. This past Tuesday was our PRISM concert and I swear that I forgot how to play all of the music we were playing for that because my brain was so geared toward Fiddler. It was so bizarre.

Last Saturday was Province Day for SAI and this year it was hosted at Henderson's campus, which is right across the street from OBU, so we got to go support our sisters from the Mu Mu chapter and learn lots of great information about SAI. Our initiation ceremony for our new babies is the Sunday night and we will be doing officer elections for next year's service soon which is super exciting!

Last week, the Admissions Counselor that I work for in the office trained me on how to give tours for OSF and tomorrow I get to give my first tour! I am so excited because I am thrilled to tell people about the school that has given me so many wonderful opportunities and show them our beautiful small campus.

The news that has happened recently that I'm probably the most excited for is that I am now profiting from my ebay store! I have been selling fairly consistently and yesterday I made the sale that put me into positive standing! I went a bit overboard with sourcing at first, especially before I discovered how cheap it was to source at the Goodwill Outlet and so I started off pretty deep in the hole, but I am finally making profit and I am so proud of myself! I've also been thinking about starting a YouTube channel to show what I have thrifted and what I will be listing on my account, but I don't have a camera to film on and I don't really think the quality of the video on my phone would cut it. We will see though!

We only have one more week of class left and then it will be finals week! I may not have to take one of my tests because I have a ton of points in the class and it's on a point based system so I need to count those up and make sure! But if I do have to take it, I will have three tests Monday, a presentation Tuesday, and a test on Friday. I can't complain about having nothing on Wednesday and Thursday because I have to be here for graduation on that following Saturday because of band. Several of my friends are graduating anyway so it will be exciting to see them walk across the stage!

I guess that's all for now guys! I have a post coming at you guys tomorrow about my latest music loves because I haven't done one of those in a while and I love to share with you guys what I've been listening to! ~Em

My Morning Routine

My Morning Routine!

I was just pondering ideas for new blog posts a little bit ago when I came across the idea to write about your morning routine. My morning routine is pretty much dependent on what classes I have that day and what time I have to get up, but it's fairly consistent. So, without further ado, here is my morning routine for you guys!

1. Wake up and quietly sneak out of the bedroom so I don't wake up AA.
My classes start a couple of hours before her's do so she gets to sleep longer than me. Plus, she's one of those girls that can wake up 20 minutes or less before class starts and be there on time. Me? Not so much.

2. Use the bathroom and wash hands!
I always wake up with a full bladder so I have to get that out of my system and I always make sure to wash my hands afterwards (not that I don't usually), because I know I will be touching my face while doing my makeup so I don't want to get germs all over my face.

3. Take out retainer and brush teeth
Yes I have had my braces off for 4 years now and yes I do still wear my retainers. My teeth and head hurt so much when I forget to wear my retainers and I do not want to have my teeth shifting around on me. My retainers make my breath and mouth taste so gross though, so I have to brush my teeth really well when I wake up in the morning.

4. Makeup routine!
This is the part of my morning that takes the longest to accomplish. I used to do my makeup super fast and just rush out the door, but I realized that if I take my time with my makeup, it looks so much better and it lasts longer throughout the day.I always watch YouTube videos while I am getting ready, which is likely one of the reasons it takes me so long to get ready. I plan on writing a different post about my full makeup routine, because if I wrote it all out here, this post would be incredibly long.

5. Put on clothes
This one tends to vary in position. Depending on what I'm wearing, sometimes I have to put my clothes on before I do my makeup, so I won't mess it up when I put my head through the shirt hole or whatever. I usually put my clothes on after my makeup and before my hair though.

6. Hair-do
This one sometimes varies in position in my routine as well. Sometimes I do my hair before my makeup so I can know if I need to blend out my makeup on my neck really well or not. Most of the time, I definitely put my clothes on before I fix my hair, especially if I'm wearing it up, so I don't mess it up.

7. Deodorant and perfume
About this time in my routine I am running late because my hair wouldn't cooperate or I spent too long on my makeup, but I don't leave the room without putting on deo and spraying some perfume on.

8. Put on jewelry or shove it in my pocket to put on in class
Most days I don't have time to put my jewelry on before class so I just put it in my pocket as I'm running out the door and put it on when I get to class. I wear pretty much the same jewelry every day so it's a routine I'm used to.

9. Put on shoes
By this point of the routine I have about 2 minutes before I absolutely must leave the room or else I will be late, so I'm pretty much frantically tip-toeing around our dorm room trying not to wake AA up and get out the door to be on time to class.

10. Grab backpack, breakfast, meds, water bottle and head to class!
My normal breakfast on Monday, Wednesday, Friday is a pack of granola bars, because I can grab them while I head out the door and eat them in class. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I usually have time to actually eat cereal or a bagel because class doesn't start until 10. I take some allergy meds, because screw you pollen, and some Hair, Skin, and Nails gummy vitamins to help my hair thicken back up. I always carry a refillable water bottle with me to class and we have a Brita pitcher in the room to keep filtered water in the bottle. Then I get my backpack out of the room and head to class, generally running late, but hey, what are you gonna do about it?
