The Busiest Time of Year
The busiest time of the year is upon us. It has been so hectic in my world the last couple of weeks and as it approaches finals week it will likely only get busier. I know I said that I hate doing update posts but a TON of stuff has happened since my last post that I wanted to fill you guys in on.
I made my LAST FALL SEMESTER schedule a couple weeks ago! Can you believe it? Because I hardly can. This makes it so real that I actually get to graduate a year early and I'm actually super stoked about my schedule. I will technically only be in 12 hours of class each week, not including marching band and Wind Ensemble, The other 5 hours of my time are pretty unique because for two of them I get to be a Teacher's Aide for my mentor's Crime and Deviance class and the other three will be credit that I am getting for my research trip that I'm going on this summer. My actual classes that I'm taking are American National Government, Scientific Connections, Social Psychology, and Cognition. I have already finished my major courses except for Capstone and Senior Seminar so basically I'm taking my last two core courses and finishing up my minor!
Last week/weekend was our school's production of Fiddler on the Roof and boy was that an experience. I had never played in the pit for a musical before and it is a whole different ball game. The score had some pretty tough spots in it, musically speaking, and the whole experience was incredibly draining. It was really fun to be creating the music for the actors and actresses on stage and I would definitely do it again! HOWEVER, playing that same music over and over for those performances and those performances being so important seriously messed with my music-interpreting brain. This past Tuesday was our PRISM concert and I swear that I forgot how to play all of the music we were playing for that because my brain was so geared toward Fiddler. It was so bizarre.
Last Saturday was Province Day for SAI and this year it was hosted at Henderson's campus, which is right across the street from OBU, so we got to go support our sisters from the Mu Mu chapter and learn lots of great information about SAI. Our initiation ceremony for our new babies is the Sunday night and we will be doing officer elections for next year's service soon which is super exciting!
Last week, the Admissions Counselor that I work for in the office trained me on how to give tours for OSF and tomorrow I get to give my first tour! I am so excited because I am thrilled to tell people about the school that has given me so many wonderful opportunities and show them our beautiful small campus.
The news that has happened recently that I'm probably the most excited for is that I am now profiting from my ebay store! I have been selling fairly consistently and yesterday I made the sale that put me into positive standing! I went a bit overboard with sourcing at first, especially before I discovered how cheap it was to source at the Goodwill Outlet and so I started off pretty deep in the hole, but I am finally making profit and I am so proud of myself! I've also been thinking about starting a YouTube channel to show what I have thrifted and what I will be listing on my account, but I don't have a camera to film on and I don't really think the quality of the video on my phone would cut it. We will see though!
We only have one more week of class left and then it will be finals week! I may not have to take one of my tests because I have a ton of points in the class and it's on a point based system so I need to count those up and make sure! But if I do have to take it, I will have three tests Monday, a presentation Tuesday, and a test on Friday. I can't complain about having nothing on Wednesday and Thursday because I have to be here for graduation on that following Saturday because of band. Several of my friends are graduating anyway so it will be exciting to see them walk across the stage!
I guess that's all for now guys! I have a post coming at you guys tomorrow about my latest music loves because I haven't done one of those in a while and I love to share with you guys what I've been listening to! ~Em
