Back for the Spring Semester

Moving is HARD!

At the time when I am writing this, it will be the first time I have sat down in about 5 hours and it's all because I moved back to my dorm today! We start class on Wednesday and I have a rehearsal for basketball band tomorrow so I had to move in today in order to get my things organized. I never look forward to going back to school. Don't get me wrong, I am very excited to see my friends, get involved in the community again, and going back to band rehearsals, SAI meetings and events, and work, but the impending thought that I will have to get back to homework and assignments is always at the front of my mind. My favorite thing about starting a new semester is getting back on a schedule. With me being the way I am, I yearn for organization and planning. I am so excited for Syllabus Day for my classes because I love getting to write in my planner to make sure my semester is organized from the get-go.

I'd been slowly packing my things for the last several days, because (surprise, surprise) I LOVE packing. It goes hand in hand with having things organized, I always make a list of things I need to pack and strategically pack to make sure my list is fulfilled. So I finished packing up all of my things today and had them sitting in my floor waiting to be moved to my car. My mom came in my room and told me that it had started raining pretty hard. I wasn't planning on leaving until later in the afternoon anyway so I wasn't worried about it. My mom and stepdad, my stepsiblings S and O, and I went to lunch at Mulan's, a Chinese buffet, and then when we came back home, I pulled my car in the garage so I wouldn't have to drag all of my belongings out into the pretty heavy downpour to get to my car. My stepsister, O, helped me pack my car in like a game of Tetris, because I am definitely an over-packer, and then we played a few rounds of Chutes and Ladders and CandyLand until my sister, A, got home from theater rehearsal. By the time A had gotten home it had stopped raining and I was ready to make my two hour drive to Arkadelphia. I stopped to get gas and then headed down the interstate. Everything was going smoothly until I got about 45 minutes away home and then it just started raining so hard that I could hardly see anything. It was even raining so hard that the police officer that was driving in front of me put his emergency lights on. I had to drive REALLY slow for a while and every 15 minutes or so there would be extremely heavy rain and then just mist and that rotation continued all the way until I got to school. Once I got to school, I started unloading my car and quickly realized that doing it by myself was going to take much longer than when my stepsister was helping me load it at home. Luckily the rain had stopped while I was unloading my car and I think it probably took 13 trips for me to get all of my stuff up to my room. When I was getting my second to last load, it started raining again. I was already tired of carrying things so I just went out with no rain jacket or anything and just let my self get soaked as I carried in the rest of my stuff. It took me an entire hour to unload my car by myself. After that it was time for the fun part... Unpacking and organizing! I seriously cannot function if I have bags and totes and other miscellaneous things laying all over my floor, so I pretty much have to put stuff away as soon as I get back to school. I wanted to organize my things a little differently this semester and that's why it took me four hours to put everything away and get it all situated. My back and feet are killing me and so I am about to go shower and then switch Louis over to his bowl from his travel cup (he will be very upset with me) and then most likely go to bed. Later this week I will update you on my first impressions of my classes and how I think my spring semester will go this year! ~Em
